How to install Windows 8 Consumer Preview for either a Mac
or Windows computer.
1. If you are using a Mac, the easiest way to do this and
have all the drivers work properly, is to follow our How To Load the Developer
preview on a Mac procedure first, then once you are completely done with that
you can boot into the Windows Developer preview and just follow this procedure
from within Windows.
2. If you are using Windows, just follow this procedure as
is.
II. Download the Windows Consumer Preview
1. Download the preview from Microsoft.
2. Double click the exe file you just downloaded and follow
the on screen prompts by clicking next.
3. Eventually your computer will reboot a few times and
you’ll be in Windows 8 enjoy! (If a Mac user it may reboot you into Mac OS, if
it does, just turn off the computer and then boot back to the WIndows OS. Do
this as many times as necessary until it is done).
III. Install Mac’s Drivers on Windows 8 (For Mac Users Only)
1. After following Sections I and II, if you can’t access
the internet in Windows 8 do the following.
2. Go to Applications > Utilities > Boot Camp
Assistant and open it.
4. Insert a new blank DVD when asked and let it burn the
software to the disc.
6. When it boots up click on the Desktop and Windows
Explorer.
7. Then click on Computer to highlight it and then search in
the search box at the top right for setup.exe
8. When it finds it, click on it once to highlight it and
then select Application Options at the top of the screen and choose
Compatibility.
9. After it tries to figure it out on it’s own, click on the
second option and then select worked in a previous version of Windows and click
on Windows 7 then continue and it should install.
